The Battle of the Books program is supported by the North Carolina School Library Media Association. The goal of the program is to introduce students to a variety of genres, learn to work with others in a competitive group and to encourage a love of reading. Students begin reading in September and in October they begin practicing once a week during the school day. The team begins competitions in early March.
Ms. Sullivan and Ms. Schratzmeier have enjoyed coaching the BOTB team for a number of years. We encourage our team to read all of the selections on the list and to come to all of the practices. We want them to develop skills in working with other students and to learn the art of competition. But, our main goal is for our students to enjoy the reading experience and to develop a life-long love of reading.
